Cake Design

Alterations and Changes

It is your responsibility to read your agreement thoroughly to make sure everything is correct. Any alterations must be made in writing via email.

If requested, we will do our best to adjust the design where possible without changing the cost, however sometimes this may not be possible and changes may affect cost. If the alteration does affect the cost, or prep work for the original design has already started, your balance will be adjusted accordingly. Please let us know as soon as possible of any possible changes to avoid added costs.

We reserve the right to change the design at any point if circumstances beyond our control may compromise the quality of the finished cake, for example hot weather may cause melting. Changes may also be made should delivery affect the cake. Sometimes it is difficult to tell during the design period how the cake will stand delivery and so added supports may be used.

Every cake is hand made and therefore although we make every effort to make the finished cake exactly like the design, there may be a small amount of variation.

We NEVER copy someone elses' work, so should you send us a picture of a cake you would like, we will discuss possible changes with you prior.

Portion Guide

Our potion guides are just a guide and portions depend on how the chef cuts the cake. Cutting guides will be attached to the cake upon delivery in insure maximum portions. All our portions are worked out at a 2"X1" slice. Should you wish to have bigger or smaller slices, please let us know during the design period.

Summer Weddings / Parties

If you are having a summer party or wedding, (June-September) we would recommend taking into consideration that using chocolate, buttercream covered cakes, or naked cakes may melt in the heat. We cannot take any responsibility for cakes once it has left our possession. We can however advise you on designs that would be more suitable to the conditions and do what we can to reduce any difficulties with the cake.

Special Diets

We can offer vegan or any other dietary requirements. However we cannot cater for coeliacs, or high levels of allergies as although we clean our equipment after use and before use when dealing with allergies, we cannot guarantee there won't be cross contamination, from utensils or from the air. Please note that although nuts can be removed from cakes, there may also be traces in our products as we do use them in the kitchen. We can however recommend companies that do specialise in these requirements.

Non-edible decorations / items

All tiered cakes and sculptured cakes will contain inedible items, such as a PVC/metal armateur (which are covered in clingfilm or another food safe material) or plastic/wooden dowels and cake boards. You will be made aware of the non-edibles, however we may need to alter these during the cake making process which you will be made aware of on the day of delivery / collection. It is your responsibility to ensure these are removed by you, your caterer or guests before consuming, such as dowels, ribbon, wires in sugar flowers and models etc.

When requesting a cake designed around a character such as Disney, we are unable to create these characters out of sugar, we will therefore however have to use plastic models bought from the company from which they belong due. This is due to copyright laws. It is your responsibility to supply the models you would like placed on your cake and send them to us so that we can secure they properly.

Fresh flowers

If you would like fresh flowers on your wedding cake, we will work with your florist to make all the necessary arrangements. The cost of fresh flowers are not included in your cake price. Please not that we are not responsible for any problems with your flowers.

When using fresh flowers, please not that your cake will be set up at the latest possible time to ensure they keep their freshness throughout the day, however depending on the varieties used and weather conditions, it may be necessary to cut the cake relatively early in the day to ensure their freshness for photography. We will of course ensure to let you know about these possibilities during order process.

Some flowers, such as baby's breath, lilly of the valley and ivy are poisonous and are not suitable for use on food products. You should make your florist aware of your intention to the use of the flowers to ensure that non-poisonous flowers are used. Silk flowers may be used instead, the cost of these will be added to your final quote from us rather than your florist.

Delivery

Delivery charges are worked out on a time and mileage bases. Cakes can of course be collected from our premises.

If you choose to use our delivery service, we will make sure your cake is delivered in perfect condition. We endeavour to leave our premises with plenty of time to arrive to you at the time requested, however there may be circumstances beyond our control such as traffic and bad weather. We ask for  your mobile number during the order process so that we can text you should we be held up for any reason.
It is important that you give us the correct time and location with postcode of your delivery and venue. In the unlikely event of very late delivery of over an hour, your delivery price will be refunded to you.

We cannot be held liable for any damage caused to the cake after we have left your premises. It is your responsibility to check you are happy with your cake before we leave.

If you choose to collect your cake, we cannot be held liable for any damage to the cake once it has left our premises. We recommend transporting your cake in the boot of your car with the aircon on! Tiered cakes are at most risk during transportation, so please check your wedding insurance covers cake damage. If collecting your wedding cake, we recommend collecting it the day before to avoid any further stress on the day, even if your maid of honour or another member of your wedding party is collecting it.

Late requests for delivery, after securing the booking based on collection, we be accommodated where possible, however we cannot guarantee we will be able to as we may have other delivery commitments and these must take priority.

Cake Setup

It is your responsibility to ensure arrangements for a suitable cake table (if you are having a marquee wedding sometimes the floorboards will rock the table when stood on), and linen are all set up prior to our arrival with the cake. If you have opted out of our cake stand and knife rental, these must also be arranged prior. If there is any delay in our set up due to these not being in place, we reserve the right to charge for any delay (labour and time costs at £20 per hour) as we may have other deliveries after yours and will have to compensate our next delivery. Alternatively please arrange for the cake to be left with your event manager to assemble and move into position.

Cake storage

Please be aware that decorations, especially sugar flowers are incredibly delicate and we cannot assume responsibility after the cake has left our possession.

If any damage occurs after it has left our possession, and you request a repair, this will be costed accordingly including transport costs. Please send us a photo of the damage before we set off so we know what we have to bring in order to fix it.

Each cake is baked to ensure it is fresh for the date of your event. Cakes will stay fresh for up to 48 hours if covered in sugar paste, however we cannot guarantee it's quality if consumed after this time. We use the highest quality ingredients and natural ingredients, and do not add any preservatives, so they will not have extended shelf life like most supermarket cakes which contain additives and preservatives to ensure prolonged life. You can however freeze your cake which will preserve the taste of the sponge and icing. However, the quality of the visual appearance will be greatly affected upon defrosting. We don't recommending freezing cakes with sugar paste. Keeping them in the fridge will also create condensation and affects the flour, causing it to stale quicker. We recommend only freezing your cake for a maximum of 3 months for sponge cakes and up to a year for fruit cake. If you do plan on freezing your cake, please make us aware of this so we can leave any cake boxes you may need, otherwise all cake boxes will be removed from site.

Cake stand and knife hire

If you would like to hire a cake stand or knife, please make us aware upon booking your cake as a deposit and hire fee is required.
Deposit amounts vary depending upon the value of the item being hired. Hire costs are £10/day. Please make arrangements to return hired items within 7 days of the event. Once they are received we will refund your deposit subject to no breakages or damage.

Complaints

Should you have any concerns or complaints about your cake, please make us aware upon delivery / collection of the cake so that we can rectify it in time for your event. All other concerns should be made in writing, with photo evidence of the fault. No refunds are given due to change of mind. We do not send photos of the cake prior to delivery as photos can change the colour and look of the cake. Cakes do not look the same in a photo as they do in real life.

Refunds are at the discretion of Daisy Brydon Creations.
