TO TIER OR NOT TO TIER
The first thing to consider is how many tiers you would like. This depends on a number of things -
- Number of guests
- Height of cake. (Dummy cakes can always be added to create extra height!)
GROOMS CAKES
Have you thought about having a groom’s cake alongside your wedding cake? It solves that age-old problem of not being able to decide on a cake. (This happens a lot!) So, have two cakes, one based on the groom’s idea for the rehearsal dinner, and one for the actual wedding day. Or… incorporate them together; this really makes the statement that a wedding cake should make.
THE HEART OF IT
Then there is shape. Traditionally wedding cakes are round, yet there are many ore choices to make your cake unique. You could go for square, hexagonal, petal or heart shaped. Shapes can be mixed up; there’s no need to stay with one. If you want to be really different, then there’s the topsy-turvy cake, a cake that seems to defy gravity!
FLAVOURS
What is your favourite flavour? Would you like more than one? Not a problem. We can offer different flavours for different tiers. Check out our flavours list HERE.
Special dietary requests can be accommodated wherever possible. However we can not guarantee that cakes will be totally free of gluten and nuts.
DECORATION
It’s the decoration that makes your cake personal to you, so we will work closely to create a cake that best reflects you. When you come in for your consultation, please bring anything with you that you would like to inspire or add on to the cake. For example, colours, invitations, flowers, dress, theme, etc. If you have your own toppers, bring these along with you too.
THAT WHICH WE CALL A ROSE
Are you having fresh flowers at your wedding? These can either be incorporated into your design or replicated in sugar so they can e kept as a reminder of your special day. The flowers can be inserted in between tiers, arranged to cascade down the cake, or placed as a beautiful spray/ bouquet on top.
DON'T LOOK, IT'S NAKED
For those who don't like sugar-paste (fondant), the new trend is the naked cake. A thin layer of buttercream is used to decorate the cake.
FRESH FRUIT WEDDING CAKES
If you're getting married in the summer, it may be a nice idea to have a fresh fruit wedding cake. An example of this might be a 3 tiered deliciously moist vanilla sponge with light Italian meringue decorated generously with strawberries, blueberries, physalis and passion fruit wrapped in chocolate curls... mouth watering!
SEASONAL WEDDINGS
If you’re having your wedding in a particular season and your theme matches this, we has plenty of flavours, fillings and design ideas to be incorporated into the cake.
Having a winter wedding? How about something different like a gingerbread house; any size, any design. We recently created an 8ft gingerbread chimney, so really... any size!
STATEMENT CAKES AND CUTTING CAKES
Do you want to make a statement, but don't want a huge cake and are concerned it won't feed all your guests? We have it covered! We can offer a cutting cake to match the flavours of the wedding cake so there will be plenty to go around.
TRAVELLING ABROAD
Are you having a destination wedding? No problem! We can transport our creations to anywhere in the world!
